Joyeeta is an Indian actor who has worked in theatre, film and web-series.

In July 2020, Joyeeta made her screen debut in BBC One’s A Suitable Boy, a series directed by Mira Nair on a screenplay by Andrew Davies. Released on BBC One and Netflix, A Suitable Boy is an adaptation of Vikram Seth’s novel of the same name.

Joyeeta was also a part of Mira Nair’s Monsoon Wedding The Musical in 2022, a stage adaptation of her BAFTA - winning movie. The musical was performed as part of the FIFA World Cup 2022 festivities in Doha, Qatar.

Joyeeta has studied at the ATELIER Mask & Movement Theatre in Italy in 2024. She has previously trained under the tutelage of director N.K. Sharma as part Act One, a New Delhi based theatre group. She has also briefly trained with actor Adil Hussain.

Before being bitten by the acting bug, Joyeeta worked at McKinsey and Co. after having graduated in Political Science from Lady Shri Ram College for Women, New Delhi. An alumna of The Assam Valley School, Joyeeta made her mark in boarding school as the Head Girl,  a national topper and debating champion.

Joyeeta is a lover of love stories, dancing to old Hindi cinema music, stories about all kinds of women, malapropisms and like a magpie, all things that glitter.

Born in Assam, north-east India, Joyeeta currently resides in Mumbai.

Joyeeta’s latest projects include a short film directed by Rima Das as part of an anthology for RSVP productions yet to be released, a solo performance piece for the stage that she has written titled “What Would You Like to Have?”. Currently she is performing in 2 plays - an adaptation of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream directed by Amitosh Nagpal which premiered in Prithvi Theatre, Mumbai in October 2024 and is touring across India and Baagad Billa, a new original play by Omkar Ghag.
